Social media has become concentrated with creators from all different fields. As we continue to rely upon and communicate through social media, it has become important for the words of other people to validate our shared experiences. While social media brings attention to mental health struggles many face, the comfort of a writers’ words reminds us of what is universal.
Books in general have always been a way to escape. Furthermore, they are a way to take care of something physical outside of us. They bring us closer to someone we do not know and allow us to relate to others we have not yet met. A writer’s presence on social media is one that reminds us of the words we fall back on in times of confusion and isolation.
Posts and Books
Being able to use your social media account and writing on hardcopy as a means to communicate with readers brings more attention to their content. Not only this, it can help writers bring their work from social media to bookstores.
Writers create a better sense of self for the readers to digest through social media. When reading a novel we connect with, there is not much more to the author on the hardcopy than the biography. Moreover, being able to follow writers on social media allows one to delve deeper into the life of the writer and how they see the world aside from stories they’ve told. Whether it’s through other writers that have inspired them, places they enjoy, experiences they have, or the general pictures they post, there is more to learn from a writer and their work through social media.
