Why a Social Media Presence Matters to Your Brand

In this digital age, it’s crucial as a business or brand to understand the importance of having a social media presence. No matter if the business has been in the family for 70 years and you like to keep it “traditional,” or whether it’s a startup with absolutely no one knowing its existence, get on social media! It doesn’t matter if it’s a tiny storefront or a global corporation, there’s no choice of whether or not to have social media if you want a successful business in this day.

What’s important to know is that it’s never too late to get on social media. No matter how many years you have been refusing to download Instagram, now is the time. And yes, you won’t have a million followers by day one, but no one does! Even so, it’s important to establish that first step and create an account as soon as you can. Being present on social media will result in a multitude of success for your business or brand.

Credibility

When people hear about your brand, one of the first things they will do is look you up on social media, whether that be Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. For many consumers, it’s a turn off when no one shows up. I mean who the fuck wouldn’t be on social media in 2021, they must not be legit…at least that’s what people will think. Furthermore, when a social media account does come up, especially if it’s informational or aesthetically pleasing, the consumer will be more encouraged to interact with your brand because you are established somewhere else other than word by mouth.

Awareness

Leaving your @ on posters, sidewalks, and everywhere else will help drive traffic and attention to your business. Having social media can allow your content to be more discoverable. As a result, you can increase your following. If more people are interested in your brand, more people will share, tag, and repost your content. It becomes a cyclical reaction of attention, traffic, and new followers.

Consistency

It’s important to stay consistent across your social media. To clarify, you should constantly engage on your account be it liking, posting, commenting, creating stories, etc. By staying consistent people are constantly updated on whatever is going on within the brand, thus, they can stay informed on the latest news. Consistency also helps your appearance through algorithms. For example, if your brand is trying to go viral on TikTok, a key tip to achieve said views is by consistently posting on your account. Like everyone always says, consistency is key.

Collaboration

Social media is great for connecting and collaborating. Interacting with other brands and businesses on social media gives your brand the opportunity to work and learn from others. Accounts can tag each other and bring their followers to you. Other accounts can even be sources for inspiration. If you’re really drawn to a certain brand’s feed try and take notice of when they post, the content they choose, and the captions they write. Attempt a similar model until you find what works best for your brand.

Through comments, reposts, and DM’S you can gauge how your audience feels towards your content and brand. From there you can even form relationships with your customers by interacting with them. Customers would praise brands and businesses with wonderful customer service so make sure someone is always actively responding to comments and DM’S. This shows you care and respect your customer’s needs and inquiries.

So if you’re still living out your Patrick Star lifestyle, get out from under your rock and wake the fuck up. Download at least one social media platform and create an account that your customers can find you on. It’ll benefit everyone involved be it your brand or the customers searching for you. It may seem like a daunting task but the payoff is worth it. Go get on socials now!
