Many people have struggled to be considered a successful content creator. It seems to be everyone’s dream to make a profit based on what you enjoy doing…creating! TikTok’s The Creator Portal is laying down the do’s, don’t, how-tos, and everything in between to joining the TikTok creator community!
The Creator Portal
TikTok’s main goal with The Creator Portal is to provide help and guidance to content creators using the app. Content creators that rely on TikTok mainly focus only on the content that they plan on creating. However, in order to be successful, other strategies need to be incorporated in this process.
You can find The Creator Portal on the TikTok website.
The Six Sections of The Creator Portal
“Getting Started On TikTok” is the first section and it has 4 subsections. The first subsection, “TikTok 101,” discusses the sole purpose of TikTok and why you should create on the app. This section states that TikTok should be everyone’s ideal creator platform. This is because TikTok lets you be the truest version of yourself and create an audience based on your authenticity. The second subsection, “Navigating TikTok,” discusses the “For You Page” and how to create videos. The third subsection, “Finding content, communities, and creators,” simply describes how to navigate the discovery page to find potential creators you might enjoy. The fourth and last subsection, “Personalizing Your TikTok Profile,” is all about the content creator, finding your niche, and what makes you appealing to other users.
The second section, “TikTok Creation Essentials,” is here to help guide aspiring content creators. This section of The Creator Portal focuses on giving you all of the information you need to produce a successful video. As a content creator, you must have a good eye for detail. A TikTok video will be successful with the use of sounds, filters and effects, and the overall story of that specific video.
The third section, “Foundations for Success,” provides all of the insider tips on how to consistently build your audience. The Creator Portal’s tips include consistency (in regards to posting content), knowing your niche (and using it to your advantage), engaging with your audience, and occasionally using the livestream feature to become more intimate with your audience.
The fourth section, “TikTok Content Strategy,” focuses on understanding your content better. To do this, you must occasionally invest in analytics. The analytics lets the creator know how each video is performing. If one specific video isn’t catching the audience’s attention, the content creator must figure out why and change that.
The fifth section, “Community Guidelines and Safety,” simply discusses what you can and cannot do as a content creator. The sole purpose of TikTok is to let individuals be their truest selves; TikTok wants to be a safe space for individuals.
How to Get Paid on TikTok
The sixth (and last) section of The Creator Portal, “Getting Paid to Create,” is probably what everyone was waiting to hear about… or read about, rather. This section provides 3 subsections. The first subsection, “Creator Fund,” describes the Creator Fund and how to get involved. Essentially, the Creator Fund rewards content creators for doing what they do best— creating. However, there are requirements that must be met. You must be at least 18 years of age, be a resident of the United States, and have a minimum of 10k followers and a total of 10k views within 30 days in order to be involved in the Creator Fund. After meeting these requirements, you may apply through the TikTok application.
Your funds will be available through the app after your account is reviewed. The subsection, “Creator Marketplace,” explains the difference between the Creator Fund and the Marketplace. Although the Marketplace has the same requirements as the Creator Fund, they both serve different purposes. The Creator Marketplace gives content creators the opportunity to collaborate with brands. Also, it beneficial to content creators because it can aid in the growth of your audience and career. The third (and last) subsection, “LIVE Gifting,” explains the purpose and importance of live streaming on TikTok. While live streaming, the audience is able to send “virtual gifts”. Virtual gifts are converted into funds for the content creator once the livestream is over.
It’s no surprise that TikTok is taking over the social media industry. We have made TikTok one of the main creating platforms over the past year. Let’s be honest, TikTok wasn’t just a “quarantine hobby” to pass time. TikTok is here to stay. And while time passes, there will be much more content creators profiting off of TikTok.
