If you’re anything like me, you probably find yourself doing your best work in the wee hours of the AM. Once midnight hits, so does my will to work, and I often find myself desperate to get out of my small city apartment to find a more exciting place to get some work done, like in cafés. And of course, I need a cup of coffee in the process. Luckily, I live in New York City. And, it’s not hard to locate a few WiFi-equipped cafés that I can stop into past 10pm for a cappuccino and a boost of creativity. Here’s some NYC locations that are open a little later than the average café or restaurant, for your working convenience.
Café Reggio
Located on 119 MacDougal St. in Greenwich Village, this little Italian spot is famed not only for its unparalleled espresso creations, but its late-night hours as well. Café Reggio remains open until 3-4 am daily. Make sure to stop in for an authentic Italian pastry and a few hours of late night creativity.
Book Club
Book Club in the East Village is the perfect literary hideout for your next late-night adventure. Open until 12 am, the bookstore-turned-café and wine bar is an ideal haunt to hide out and work. And, you can also explore the shop’s new book selections while you’re at it. Of course, Book Club can provide you with your much-needed nightly espresso fix. But, if you’re the type who prefers to work over a stronger beverage, the café also offers a wine selection.
Midnight Express Diner
There’s something oddly inspiring about hiding out in a 24-hour diner in the middle of the night. The food is cheap, the coffee never stops coming, and the lights stay on all night. If you’re looking for a workspace to post up in the wee hours, the Midnight Express Diner on 88th and Second is the ideal spot. Midnight Express is your classic, all-nighter diner. Order some pancakes and a bottomless coffee pot, and get to work.
