At the beginning of Fall last year, TikTok announced its creator’s fund to be worth about $200 million. The company later announced that the creator’s fund is to reach about $1 billion within the next three years.
TikTok has become a huge platform for creators to share entertainment through their creativity. Naturally, the Creator community reacted angrily to TikTok’s statement. The platform is aware that many people’s lives depend on the monetization strategies assigned to them. The task of creating top-tier TikTok content extends far beyond the realm of a “hobby.”
“To be eligible, users must meet the minimum eligibility requirements, including be 18 years or older, meet a baseline of 10K followers, have accrued at least 10K video views in the last 30 days, and post original content in line with our Community Guidelines. The creator’s fund was created to reward your creativity, your passion, and your tenacious spirit. As well as your ability to connect with others. We invite you to turn your creativity into an opportunity to earn a livelihood, pursue another career, or simply, be rewarded. For doing what you love,” the company said in a press release.
In an announcement made earlier this year, TikTok said users will need at least 100k “authentic” video views within the last 30 days in order to be eligible for the creator’s fund.
In the same announcement, TikTok also released names of the first recipients of the creator’s fund. The list includes some prominent names in the influencer world like David Dobrik, Ross Smith, and Michael Le. These accounts are popular on TikTok and make over $100,000 annually.
TikTok has been very quiet about the logistics behind fund release to each creator.
