On May 18th, Instagram’s account for creators announced a first-ever Creator Week. Spanning from June 8th-June 10th, the three days of the event will consist of numerous Live Sessions to help creators build their brand.
What will Creator Week include?
According to Instagram’s post, the event will include discussions of “mythbusting the algorithm to how to monetize and pitch yourself to brands.” The video on the post in addition mentions that creators will meet other top creators and learn how to build a career from their uploaded content. However, according to Variety, the event is invitation-only. It will consist of 5,000 creators from the US. But, don’t worry if you weren’t invited. Instagram nevertheless intends to post some of the content from the event to the Creator’s account and on a daily series known as “The Rundown.”
What’s the goal of the event?
Charles Porch, Instagram VP of global partnerships told Variety that the intention of this event is “to help creators build their community and help them grow their businesses.” Additionally, Porch stated that creators “have told us they need more information on how to do that, not just from us, but from other creators.” Therefore, the virtual event will include sessions such as:
How to Supercharge Your Community (e.g. raising money for nonprofits); Media Training 101; How to Break Into Entertainment; How to Start a Podcast; How to Get Discovered on Instagram (a panel with industry execs); Fund My Merch Line, in which creators can pitch their dream product idea to a panel of judges — and the winners will get their ideas funded.
