Lets face it, nothing beats having a thousand content creators wearing your shit. Not only could they be excellent brand ambassadors for clothing brands, but in general, they have the power to solidify the brand’s legitimacy by simply posting the clothing brand on their Instagram. Chelsea Carter said: “Considered the apex of personal style, influencers maintain a unique hold over the fashion market. Loyal fans and followers that have been invested in these industry cultivators have been ‘tapping for details’ for years; taking note of the unique styling cues, discovering new brands, and even adding a few featured pieces to their own wardrobe.” In the 21st century, this appears to be true, where we witnessed various brands, primarily Black-owned businesses, gain recognition. For that reason, while we lock ourselves in the house, take a look at a few fashion trends for spring 2021.
1. Leather
I don’t know if you know this but they say you should always have a leather jacket as part of your wardrobe. Aside from it paring well with about anything, Carter reveals outfits that you should try someday. One example would be “Nguyen, who opts to pair her leather suit with a simple coordinating tank, making the look feel easy and effortlessly appropriate for the encroaching warmer months. A fashion favorite, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, is well known as an avid Bottega fanatic. Her full look ensemble can be worn from day to night and is the most modern take on our favorite leather influencer trends.”
2. Workwear
The relaxed workwear has been creeping up against us for a while. It should not come as a surprise that the casual silhouette also holds a professional effect which propels so many women to choose that as an outfit. The outfit acts as a pathway for many other conventional ways of wearing a trendy outfit. And I guess that’s another thing the world needs; another thing that goes viral. Well at least in this case it’d be related to clothes. And what’s not to love about clothes? Expensive or thrifted…
Carter also pointed out that “Attico co-founder and designer, Giorgia Tordini obtains an effortless cool-girl aesthetically by artfully juxtaposing her suit with a casual t-shirt while dressing the whole look up with the addition of a strappy stiletto heel. The relaxed style can also be amped with fun and unexpected patterns. Loulou De Saison opts for a vintage inspired pin stripe pattern, but modernizes the look with a coordinating turtleneck. Color can also be explored as is the case with Jeanette Madsen’s teal suit. The pleated pants and oversized jacket are kept feminine and cool with the unexpected muted blue tone.”
As you can see, there are so many ways to work with a workwear-inspired outfit. Just as long as you start now since spring is right around the corner.
3. Denim
Like the leather jacket, denim could be versatile. It’s easily pair-able as long as it does not clash miserably with the denim. Though it is not a bad fit, the Canadian tuxedo is not what we’re striving for. Instead, it could be the most basic outfit out there (for starters!). Like wearing denim jeans with a white t-shirt and low-top sneakers.
As of right now, denim would work extremely well as something to go out in. There has been a trend of high-waisted jeans, which calls my attention to Samariah Leah (LL Cool J’s second-oldest daughter), a sustainable clothing brand that uses reusable denim to make jeans that are outlined by laces. The brand is based in Los. Angeles, but to put the icing on the cake, there are pictures of Beyonce on a boat wearing one of Leah’s shorts.
Other than that, other possible suggestions could include “attico co-founder and designer, Gilda Ambrosio, [who] pairs her straight leg jeans with a pop of color by adding an electric blue pump into her outfit. Thora Valdimars plays into the double denim trend seen on the FW20 runways and puts her spin on it. Valdimars keeps her outfit chic and elevated with the addition of a modern black sock boot. Coveted footwear designer, Amina Muaddi knows a thing about how seamlessly heels can dress up a look. Her clear PVC Begum heels are one of the most searched for sold-out pieces of the season. Muaddi wears her own iteration of the classic black pump and pairs them with a tapered jean and a statement croc-embossed.”
Just play around with it, but more importantly have fun.
While we soon get to see the sunshine and actually enjoy it, take the time to look at your current wardrobe and see what you can donate or give away to either a friend or family member. There’s a chance that you might get sucked into a trend where all you want is new clothes, especially for 2021.
