Kanye West has been working with Gap to prepare for the GAP x Yeezy collaboration. West has a 10 year partnership with Gap, so you know he takes this seriously. According to GQ, “the first drop of which is slated to drop in the next few months. It’s miraculously right on track.”
Furthermore, in an interview with Apple Music in 2015, the rapper described his vision and how he’s building a fashion farm on his Wyoming property. He’s been working toward using his farm to “produce hydroponic cotton, wheat, and hemp. He calls it going from “seed to sew.” This is the textile equivalent of farm to table.”
Sneakers and More
Kanye West sat down with comedian Joe Rogan last year to discuss his plans for one particular shoe in the collaboration: the Foam Runner. According to the designer, the foam runner will be sold for $20. In the words of Ye: “You know, money isn’t real, so that means the world should be eventually free.” More importantly, he wasn’t too pleased with today’s hype culture. Ultimately speaking, Ye is on a mission to push against the norm. In his world that means, “I got this color way and you don’t have it.” It shouldn’t be like that. We should all push ourselves toward minimalism.
Below, which had been posted by Kanye West himself, is a glimpse of what to expect from his partnership with Gap Inc, as we wait patiently for the collaboration to drop; hopefully soon.
I’m sure once Gap announces the release date, every one and their moms’ will be trying to get their hands on an item or two. But would they be doing it for the right reasons? And we all know the answer, too. The answer is no. Welcome to America!
