With Clubhouse still rapidly growing, so are their new features. On April 5th, the platform announced their roll out of Payments, a monetization option for creators.
And there’s more to look forward to. The voice-based app stated that this is just one of “the first of many features that allow creators to get paid directly on Clubhouse.”
How do Payments work?
Using the Payments feature is simple. Firstly, tap on a profile and then click “Send Money.” However, in order to send money, creators must have the feature enabled. The next step is to choose an amount and send it to your desired creator. Furthermore, as of April 5th, Clubhouse stated that anyone can begin sending out payments to creators.
Best of all, the entire payment will be sent to the creator. That means that Clubhouse will be taking no portion of the money sent. However, the platform notes that “the person sending the money will also be charged a small card processing fee, which will go directly to our payment processing partner, Stripe.” Nonetheless, “Clubhouse will take nothing.”
What to know
While users can begin using the Payments feature, creators will receive their money in waves. The platform, in their blog post, mentioned that they have created a small test group to try out the receiving of payments. This is because Clubhouse wants to tweak and adjust the feature so they can roll it out to everyone.
Only recently in March did Clubhouse release its “Creator First” Accelerator Program. And the following month its Payments feature. This seems like just the beginning of resources and benefits the voice-based app has for its creators. So, look out for new features and in the meantime, enable the Payments option!
