Cryptocurrency can be kind of cryptic if you ask me. I’m still not exactly sure how it works. Celebrities however seem to have a better understanding of it than I do, or at least they can see how it will make them money. Celebrities across the globe are buying and advertising cryptocurrency. I guess they need to be rich in virtual money too.
What is Cryptocurrency?
Ah yes, the age-old question of what is cryptocurrency. Essentially, it’s virtual money. You can only use it online but it has the ability to buy goods and services. Here’s how nerdwallet.com explains it:
“Cryptocurrency is a form of payment that can be exchanged online for goods and services. Many companies have issued their own currencies, often called tokens, and these can be traded specifically for the good or service that the company provides. Think of them as you would arcade tokens or casino chips. You’ll need to exchange real currency for the cryptocurrency to access the good or service. Cryptocurrencies work using a technology called blockchain. Blockchain is a decentralized technology spread across many computers that manages and records transactions. Part of the appeal of this technology is its security.”
What Celebrities Are Using It?
Cryptocurrency is the latest big investment opportunity and celebrities of all backgrounds are getting their stake. From Kanye West to Paris Hilton to Bill Gates everyone seems to be investing in it. It’s an odd group of people, but one thing is clear: cryptocurrency is worth a lot. So much so that celebrities have taken to advertising it.
That’s right, not only are celebs buying cryptocurrency, they want you to also purchase some. Most notably, Kim Kardashian has advertised crypto. For those who don’t know (have you been living under a rock) Kim Kardashian is one of the biggest celebrities in the world. Although not known for any particular talent, Kardashian has made a name for herself. For her to be advertising cryptocurrency came as a shock to most. Especially, considering the caliber of the other celebrities advertising the online currency.
Other celebrity advertisers include a long list of social media influencers including Charli and Dixie D’Amelio and Tana Mongeau.
Cryptocurrency seems to be the future, or at least celebrities want you to think so. Are you buying it?
