For a while, I’ve been noticing some differences in how U.S. creators and European creators tend to represent themselves through their aesthetics. And, these aesthetics are normally the same whenever you realize a creator is either from Europe or situated in America, particularly in New York City.
Creators want to sell an image, an irresistible image. Whether you’d agree or not, this is how they generate a large following, which targets certain demographics or age groups. Unlike the United States, European creators tend to lean more toward a visual representation of dreamlike, nostalgia beauty. Whereas in the United States, it’s always unique to the individual. We can get into that later. I would go out on a whim and say that most of the time, European creators are more likely to have a better chance at being successful than American creators. Is it because of the beauty? I don’t know. Or is it selling a dream where all your worries go away once you see a stunning picture?
For instance, as we’ll get to see later in this article, Europe has incredible architecture, beautiful coffee shops, and most of all, great spots to take pictures. As for America, it’s much different. Each state holds its own uniqueness, especially New York City. The City also has untouchable skyscrapers, a plethora of coffee shops, and pocket areas to take that perfect shot. Still, the question is: what’s the difference? Is it that creators from two different continents strive for a different outcome? If so, what’s that?
As someone who follows several creators from Europe and America, I think the difference is that they are selling a different way of life, so to speak. Let’s take a look.
The tone is lighter on the eyes. The background sinks you into a world other than your own. Overall, these aesthetics never disappoint viewers. And, this might come as a surprise, but many European creators strive for this beauty. I guess it has to do with the specific locations they have access to. Unlike America, there are a lot of beaches at their disposal, as well as streets with bleak lighting, only the more reason to shoot there. It’s safe to say that European creators are obsessed with living in a dream, a dream where you are on their beach, soaking in the sun, all while your atmosphere screams an aura of head-in-the-clouds perfection. It’s addicting to look at, and they know it!
